Mobile Beat Tour Stop In LA/OC

The Crossfader Show crew will be meeting up with the gang from Mobile Beat during their stop in Los Angeles slash Orange County. In the last leg of their four week journey, Mobile Beat has brought in the big guns such as Pioneer DJ, American DJ, Line 6 and DigiGames.

We plan to stream the whole event starting at 6pm Pacific with some interviews sprinkled in for good measure. On the speaking side, two of the DJ industries finest John Rozz and Jason Weldon will be on hand to provide us with great content.

John Rozz - Tots,Tweens and Teens

How to work your skills and games with Tots and where to make your best changes for the Tween World.  Sweet 16′s the hottest market in the world and how to cash in on it right now.  The pros and cons on opening up your own Kids Club and operating it to its fullest.  The future of Teens Dub Step Music.

Jason Weldon - New Trends in Lighting!

Learn and review the key components of conventional lighting for your DJ packages for weddings. Get the fundamentals of four key components of lighting design: up lighting, dance floor washes, monogram projection and pin spotting. Intelligent lighting is great, but when you see how easy (and cheap) conventional lighting is, you will want to start adding to your shows as soon as you can. Bring the room together with all of these options, design custom lighting schemes for different wedding receptions

The DJ Business Show for August 2011

3rd Annual Cali DJ Mix Off

One of the most impressive Video Segments and eventa I've attended last year was the Cali DJ Mix Off. With a star studded roster of legendary DJs tht have made a mark in west coast Hip Hop (worldwide Hip Hop for that matter). With such names as Egyptian Lover, Roger Clayton, Joe Cooley, DJ Kittkat and many others, the family friendly event brought the community together with finger licking BBQ goodness.

This year, we plan to bring the excitement of this event to your lap, desk or pocket. If the internet gods cooperate (4G is available in a small section), we wil bring you every crab scratch, needle drop and crowd roar as possible. Tune in at 11 am PST and enjoy Old School Hip Hop nirvana.

If your in the Los Angeles area, bring your lawn chair, picnic basket and family to Kenneth Hahn Park this Sunday. Free parking and free admission, you cant go wrong.

And The Winner Is...

The call came in yesterday from DJ Mikey Mike and asked what I was doing September 28th. I responded by telling him I had planned to go to BPM if I won the American DJ YouTube Contest. "Good answer!", he said as he told me he had won the first place prize for a trip for two to Birmingham UK and wanted me to go with him.

After I picked up my jaw from the floor, I thanked him for the thought and began to daydream of finally being close to my favorite DJ, Jason Early. I will post my European exploits on this blog, stay tuned.

Here is my submission to the video contest. Thanks to my son who played the role of Boy George.

Many thanks to Brian S Redd, Brian Dowdle, the Davies Family and especially DJ Mikey Mike for this great opportuniy.

In Memorium - Chris Andrews

Photo Courtesy of Chris DavisThe loss of a loved one can be devastating news, especially at an early age. That is why the passing of Chris Andrews a.k.a. "Big Daddy", was especially hard on several levels. For me personally, I have gotten to know Chris since Mobile Beat 2009 and he has been a DJ friend and confidant.

We worked together on several events and has appeared on the show on four occasions. For every encounter, he has endured his wisdom and I've learned so many lessons. His loss has left an indelliable impression. His light has made my life bright. His life was lived to the fullest and wish his family my deepest sympathies.

I share with you his contributions to the show. R.I.P. "Big Daddy".

In our Video Segment, Chris asked Johnny Aftershock and I to help him at a movie premier of the documentray "The Raid" at the House of Blues in Anaheim. We had so much fun doing the event and just working with two pros. "YOUR A BAD DJ!"

In Episode #49, he gave us his memories of past DJ conventions. While I had no pre-planned contetnt coming off our recent trip to Mobile Beat 2011, Chris was always eager to help in a pinch.

Chris appeared along side some big names in the indusrty such as Jim Cerone and DJ Enrie. He always gave us the aura of a superstar DJ.

Video streaming by Ustream

Again, always willing to help, we had no content scheduled and we created a DJ rundtable with an open topic. What was I thinking?

Video streaming by Ustream

In his first appearance, Episode #24 topic was Video mixing. We had a panel of very qulified DJs such as DVDJ Unique, DJ Flip, Jimmy G and Joe Casillas talking about the ins and outs of the video world.

The Crossfader Show - Epiosde #69

In our last episode of the season, we have Troy Ackerman from DJ Event Planner announce the latest version of DJEP 5.6. We discuss the impact of the recession on the wedding indusrty and same sex unions with Andy Ebon. Krista Thompson shares some sweetness with a new company called Dolly's Sweet Dreams Cotton Candy. Lastly we share our Picks and Tracks of The Week.
